What is Public Art?

Public art refers to art or design elements that have been planned and executed by an artist or artist team with the intention of being installed or presented in the public sphere, usually outdoors and accessible to all. It can help to create a sense of place, give community members points of engagement with their neighborhood, highlight special characteristics or features, and help to give an area a distinct visual identity.
