Introducing colorWALK: A Public Art Experience in Uptown Mt. Lebanon
Bringing Light, Color, and Creativity to Our Streetscape
The Mt. Lebanon Partnership, in collaboration with the Municipality of Mt. Lebanon, is proud to present colorWALK—a dynamic public art installation that transforms the sidewalks of Uptown into a vibrant and engaging visual experience.
Funded in part through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), colorWALK brings seasonal, nature-inspired animations to life using light-based projection technology. As visitors move through the district in the evening hours, they’ll encounter playful vignettes featuring butterflies, birds, and blooming flowers that animate the sidewalks and invite moments of interaction, curiosity, and joy.
This project is part of a broader effort to enhance the Uptown experience through creative placemaking and public-private collaboration. By integrating art into the daily pedestrian experience, colorWALK not only beautifies the built environment but also supports small businesses by encouraging foot traffic, exploration, and a sense of community connection.
The projections are designed to evolve throughout the year, introducing new designs and animations with each season—ensuring that every visit offers something new to discover.
colorWALK exemplifies the Mt. Lebanon Partnership’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and welcoming district for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
